About This Tour
Alligators at Dawn, Orchids Overhead — A Photographer's Paradise
The Alligators & Orchids Kayak Tour is our most photogenic experience — a morning paddle on mirror-calm water through a dense mangrove forest adorned with native orchids, bromeliads, and wildflowers, with American alligators resting on the banks in the early morning light.
Morning is the ideal time to be on the water in the Everglades. The surface can be completely slick-calm, acting as a perfect mirror to the surrounding beauty. Your shots of the reflections on the water — the orchids, the mangrove roots, the alligators — can be absolutely spectacular. This is a great tour if you enjoy photography.
No Everglades experience would be complete without seeing our most iconic inhabitant, the American Alligator. Our kayaks are stealthy and discreet. They regularly allow us to observe alligators from a safe, respectful distance — but close enough for exceptional photographs. Our guides understand alligator behavior and ensure every encounter is safe and respectful.
This is a wonderful experience for the entire family — something you may never forget. It is like being inserted into a television nature documentary, but you can hear, see, smell, and touch everything first-hand.

Wildlife & Nature
What Wildlife Will I Encounter?
The Everglades is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in North America. Here is what guests regularly encounter on our kayak tours:
🐋
American Alligator
Commonly observed from the kayak at a safe, respectful distance. The stealthy kayak allows close-up encounters impossible from a power boat.
🦈
River Otters
Playful and curious, river otters are frequently spotted in the mangrove channels on our paddle tours.
🦅
Bald Eagles & Raptors
Osprey, red-shouldered hawks, and bald eagles are regularly seen hunting over the open water and mangrove edges.
🌿
Orchids & Bromeliads
The mangrove canopy hosts a spectacular collection of native orchids, bromeliads, and wildflowers — identified by your naturalist guide.
🐢
Turtles & Reptiles
Various turtle species, anoles, and other reptiles are common throughout the mangrove ecosystem.
🐦
Wading & Songbirds
Great blue herons, snowy egrets, little blue herons, wood storks, and dozens of songbird species depending on the season.
